Jacqueline Chaidez, MA LPC

Licensed Professional Counselor and Art Therapist

Hello! My name is Jacqueline Chaidez and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Art Therapist, and an artist. Early in my experience as an artist and Art Educator, I realized that I wanted to use art as a tool for communication to express, understand, and explore inner worlds. I went back to school to get my Masters in Art Therapy and Counseling and since then, I’ve worked in settings ranging from community based programs in Chicago to inpatient treatment centers in the suburbs.

My expertise resides in combining talk therapy with art therapy. I use my experience and training as an artist alongside my therapeutic and clinical training to connect with and understand my clients. I know that incorporating art into therapy may feel daunting, especially for clients who don’t consider themselves “creative types.” As a result, I value taking cues from my clients and taking things at their pace. I tailor all therapy sessions to my client’s individual wants, needs, and goals (whether that involves a lot of art exploration or none at all).

As a therapist, I practice unconditional positive regard for my clients and radical empathy. I am passionate about providing a safe, non-judgmental space for my clients to explore and work through the challenges that bring them to therapy. I believe deeply in harm-reduction models of treatment and am committed to a person-centered approach that puts my clients first.

I specialize in working with adults struggling with substance use issues, depression, anxiety, identity issues, and child of immigrant complexities. I enjoy working with neurodivergent individuals and LGBTQIA+ clients.
